Magnificent Joy

Magnificent Joy
Oil paints have a delicious, buttery consistency, and their varying degrees of translucencies makes me happily meditative when painting.
Science, art and music have always been central to my family. I remember looking at clouds on long road trips as a child. Juilliard and Columbia-trained in piano, liberal arts, and dentistry, I know that fine art overlaps with great music. Both can evoke feelings of awe, serenity, and happiness. I share these through annual piano concerts and my paintings. Transcendent music and art inspires me. I admire work of Sargent, Monet, Kennett, Bierstadt, Homer, Inness, Constable, Turner, Tiffany and Parrish.
Whether plein air painting or working indoors with an underpainting, I try to capture a vista with an atmosphere of the moment that moves me.
This view is particularly uplifting and makes me feel like all can be right in this world. It is just what I need to look at during the dark gloomy days of a northeast winter.
