On this calm and crisp morning in Pacifica, California—-a place renowned for its fog and cloudy weather—-I arrived early and quickly painted a plein air sketch to capture the the golden winter light. Instantly, I sensed the potential for this sketch to evolve into a larger studio piece. I continue to be inspired by what can be found right in one's own backyard.
