Afternoon sun on Baðstofa

This is a painting of one of my favourite areas to explore in Iceland called Krýsuvík on the Reykjanes Peninsula. It has a lot of geothermal areas creating beautiful multi-coloured hills. I was fortunate enough to catch the rare sun one afternoon hitting these beautiful hills which really brought out the colours - I just had to try and capture it! I took some quick colour notes and from these worked on a painting back in the studio, the result of which you see here.
