Eruption in Reykjanes Peninsula
On November the 20th we had another eruption in Iceland on the Reykjanes Peninsula. A couple of days into the eruption I could see the volcanic plume rising into the sky all the way from Reykjavík - the colours were stunning as the smoke formed it’s own dark cloud contrasting with the warm light of the winter sun - I just had to try and capture this unique moment so painted this en plein air (in -8° I might add)! I needed to be quick so I just worked on some thick bristol paper I have with my plein air mini oil palette.
