Portrait of a woman

This painting of a young woman created with fire, by moving a flame across the watercolor paper. I wanted to show that a destructive force (fire) can be used to create beauty, and that the use of something impermanent and ethereal (smoke) can create a permanent, beautiful image. This image was created by depositing soot from a candle flame on the paper, and by singeing the paper.
