The Zig-Zag Fence

As my noon philosophy class let out at the College of William & Mary, the Virginia heat beckoned me to take my painting backpack and skip on over to Colonial Williamsburg. I walked through the street, observing both elderly couples and young families with skipping, paper-crowned children as they explored the magic of this place I get to call home. At the entrance to an animal exhibit, my feet halted, my eyes danced, and I set up my space. I sketch out the vision, block in the largest shapes, and then go into detail. I find gratitude in every stroke, the sun providing me its warmth, and my sketchbook being a place where my inner child flourishes.
