I Brake for the Afternoon Light

I Brake for the Afternoon Light, Vehicle
I Brake for the Afternoon Light
I think of this painting in reference to the Renaissance theorist, Leon Battista Alberti, as he conceived of the idea of a painting being a window. Hence the window of my truck serves as new application of that idea. And because, I am always looking for the motif, especially in the golden hour while driving, this work brings that process to the fore. The scene is a view in Ithaca, NY where I live. The late afternoon light on the historic buildings was part of the appeal. The wide horizontal format helped to incorporate the idea - of the interior of a vehicle and the outside world of the commute.
